Produced on-site in our outdoor studio over the course of the summer, these artworks engage the Park’s unique history, landscape, and surrounding community.

For the 2019 exhibition, projects range from a https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/martin-roth/soundscape conflating the sounds of animals and man-made objects to https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/lucia-thome/a monument to the invasive Ailanthus plant. Approaches vary among https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/wac/collaborative investigations of authorship and visibility, the https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/chris-domenick/re-contextualization of domestic motifs, and the https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/jes-fan/examination of biological material, among many others.

Ranging from fantastical to anecdotal to pedagogical, this year’s artists use a variety of narrative strategies. Several artist projects examine storytelling’s many material manifestations, from an https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/tecumseh-ceaser/homage to a Native American myth in which North America exists on a turtle’s back to a https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/hadrien-gerenton-loup-sarion/suggestion that a giant has fallen asleep under the Park’s blanket of grass, its exposed nose becoming refuge for a wandering monitor lizard.
Artworks
https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/jesus-benavente/’I Still Remember You Mijo’–
By Jesus Benavente

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/tecumseh-ceaser/’Honoring the People of Sewanhaky’–
By Tecumseh Ceaser (Native Tec)

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/onyemaechi-crouch-anyarogbu/’Chromakey Supranatural’–
By Martina Onyemaechi Crouch-Anyarogbu (MOCA)

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/rachelle-dang/’Seedbox: Trees of New York’–
By Rachelle Dang

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/chris-domenick/’Archipelago: Dock’–
By Chris Domenick

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/hadi-fallahpisheh/’The Blind Man’–
By Hadi Fallahpisheh

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/jes-fan/’what I no see, no can do’–
By Jes Fan

https://socratessculpturepark.org/artist/hadrien-gerenton-loup-sarion/’THE BIG SLEEP’–
By Hadrien Gérenton &
