Spanning approximately one acre of waterfront parkland, the site will be reimagined from a long-time storage and maintenance area into a newly accessible green space featuring an exhibition of multiple sculptures by Socrates\u2019 founder,&nbsp;Mark di Suvero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Private support makes this transformation possible. Funding will not only enable the installation of di Suvero\u2019s work, but also the landscaping and infrastructure improvements required to safely open the site to the public. Through new signage and storytelling, the exhibition will honor di Suvero\u2019s instrumental role in founding the Park and the collective legacy of artists, activists, and neighbors who built this civic space for creativity and belonging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>Community Engagement &amp; Public Programming<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Point will serve as a dynamic platform for public engagement. New interpretive materials\u2014on-site signage, archival texts, and contextual storytelling\u2014will guide visitors through the social, ecological, and artistic significance of Socrates and Western Queens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Public programs and education initiatives will invite residents, artists, and advocates to engage with the Park\u2019s legacy of ecological resilience, artistic collaboration, and creative community-building. By the time The Point opens in 2026, visitors will encounter a rich experience that brings the site\u2019s layered history to life\u2014from its transformation from industrial landfill to cultural landmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In parallel, Socrates is undertaking a major investment in making forty years of institutional history publicly accessible for the first time. Through&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/socratessculpturepark-2026.kudos.nyc\/the-point-digital-archives-project\/\">The Point Digital Archives Project<\/a><\/strong>, conducted in collaboration with alumni artists and community members, we will illuminate and preserve the stories that shaped Socrates\u2014ensuring they remain part of the Park\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This work deepens our understanding of the Park\u2019s evolution, foregrounds multiple voices, and expands a history that has often been incomplete or hidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>A Future Shaped by Community<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While The Point will transform the Park\u2019s landscape, its deeper impact lies in how it transforms the way Socrates engages with its public.
