It is also a commitment to honoring the stories, practices, and communities that shaped Socrates from a riverside landfill into a nationally recognized space for art, ecology, and public life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A central part of this effort is building a public historical record for the first time in our four-decade history. Through two interconnected initiatives\u2014The Point Digital Archives Project&nbsp;and&nbsp;The Point Oral History Project\u2014we are gathering materials, memories, and narratives that illuminate the many individuals who imagined, built, nurtured, and transformed Socrates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdCYvT0hkHzehy75_cA87LfAPgYofNurosDk3zzmoRtNgvI_w\/viewform?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=113288298570081930324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contributions<\/a>\u2014both tangible and intangible\u2014are essential to telling the full story. They help us understand not only&nbsp;<em>what<\/em>&nbsp;Socrates has been, but&nbsp;<em>who<\/em>&nbsp;made it possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>The Point Digital Archives Project<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are creating a new digital archive that will make Socrates\u2019 institutional history and knowledge publicly accessible. To build this shared record, we\u2019re seeking materials from the people who know the Park best: artists, neighbors, collaborators, staff, and community members whose experiences shaped the Park\u2019s evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>What We\u2019re Looking For<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome materials that enrich, complicate, or expand Socrates\u2019 story, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Letters, emails, postcards, journal entries, clippings, flyers, pamphlets, newsletters, and other documents related to Socrates Sculpture Park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photographs and audio\/video recordings taken at the Park\u2014or at the site before or during its development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal recollections, anecdotes, or reflections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Material showing how Socrates impacted your creative or community practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are casting a wide net\u2014big moments and small ones all help complete the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are contributing physical items, please note that&nbsp;<strong>Socrates will not keep your originals<\/strong>. Any materials appropriate for the digital archive will be scanned, photographed, or otherwise documented for inclusion in The Point Digital Archives Project, and your originals will be returned to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before submitting, please review our&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/socratessculpturepark-2026.kudos.nyc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/The-Point-Archives-Project-Materials-Consent-Form.docx-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Materials Consent Form<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;for details about the process. You can express interest in sharing your archival materials by&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdCYvT0hkHzehy75_cA87LfAPgYofNurosDk3zzmoRtNgvI_w\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">completing this form<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>The Point Oral History Project<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not all history lives on paper. Much of Socrates\u2019 story exists only in the memories of those who envisioned the Park, built it, maintained it, and shaped its creative legacy. The Point Oral History Project preserves these stories through recorded, guided conversations with alumni artists, community members, collaborators, and neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These narratives help:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enrich the Park\u2019s public archive with lived experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Illuminate hidden or overlooked histories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Center voices historically excluded from institutional narratives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the Park\u2019s past and present to its future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants will collaborate with a project interviewer who will guide the conversation and create a digital audio recording. These recordings will be featured on our forthcoming digital archive and preserved in partnership with the&nbsp;Queens Memory Project&nbsp;and&nbsp;Queens Public Library.
