The term guelaguetza is a Zapotec word meaning \u201coffering\u201d or also \u201creciprocal exchange of gifts and services\u201d and we&#8217;re excited to take part.<\/p>\n<p>This summer celebration originated in Oaxaca City, Mexico, where representatives of the eight regions of Oaxaca gather together wearing traditional costumes to dance, sing, and give gifts to the crowd; creating strong bonds between the different regions. Each region offers a unique contribution to the festivities \u2014 like the much-loved \u201cDance of the Pineapple!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BFMNY is dedicated to preserving the culture and traditions of Mexico, not only with the beauty of Mexican folkloric dance and music, but also building strong bridges toward a more culturally diverse society.
