\nJoin us to celebrate the opening of The Socrates Annual 2018! The exhibition features fifteen new public artworks by the Park’s 2018 Artist Fellows:\u00a0Leilah Babirye,\u00a0Sherwin Banfield,\u00a0Amy Brener,\u00a0Lionel Cruet,\u00a0Nathaniel Cummings-Lambert,\u00a0Ronen Gamil,\u00a0Jesse Harrod,\u00a0Carlos Jim\u00e9nez Cahua,\u00a0Leander Mienarus Knust,\u00a0Antone Konst,\u00a0Joiri Minaya,\u00a0Nicholas Missel,\u00a0Virginia Lee Montgomery,\u00a0Nancy Nowacek,\u00a0Joe Riley & Audrey Snyder. The Fellows’ projects\u00a0range in subject matter from Queens hip-hop to Incan architecture and utilize diverse media including concrete, textile, rubber, and resin \u2013 creating unique points interest for visitors to discover throughout the Park’s landscape. FELLOWSHIP:
\nThe Socrates Annual is the culminating exhibition of the Park’s Emerging Artist Fellowship (EAF) program \u2013 which\u00a0 has served hundreds of artists participants including\u00a0Sable Elyse Smith (2016), Hank Willis Thomas (2006), and Orly Genger (2004) since it was formalized in 2000. Each year, EAF awards fifteen artists selected through a competitive open-call application process with production stipends, access to the Park’s outdoor artist studio, and the technical resources needed to realize ambitious public artworks. The program and exhibition are designed to foster individual artist’s projects rather than present an overarching theme.<\/p>\n
