Hallet’s Cove Beach

Hallet’s Cove Beach, also known as Socrates Sculpture Park Kayak/Canoe Launch, sits adjacent to the North entrance of the Park where visitors can gather to enjoy a small beach area overlooking the East River. 

Rules Prohibit:

• Swimming, diving, or bathing
• Rafts or other inflatables
• Consumption of alcohol
• Littering
• Smoking
• Any discharge into water
• Pets off leash or in the water
• Open flame
• Storing personal property
• Motor vehicles without specific authorization

Community Water Quality Testing at Hallets Cove

We encourage everyone that visits Hallet’s Cove to be knowledgeable about the water quality before engaging in any activity at the Cove. Socrates has collaborated with The Community Water Quality Testing (CWQT) program, currently facilitated by Billion Oyster Project alongside 15+ partner labs and community based organizations, to conduct water quality testing throughout the year.

For 20 weeks of the year, volunteers and community partners test surface water for sewage pollution typically caused by combined sewage overflows. Data can be paired with rainfall and tide information to make informed decisions about water quality and its potential impact on human health throughout the NY-NJ Estuary.
