Presented in partnership with Waterfront Alliance
Socrates Sculpture Park is proud to participate in Waterfront Alliance’s City of Water Day dedicated to fostering awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of our NYC waterfronts and waterways.
Participate in aquatic art-making and activities with Socrates artists and Art House Astoria Conservatory for Music and Art, create a giant Magic Waterfalls sculpture with Free Style Arts Association, and learn local waterfront history with Greater Astoria Historical Society.
On the Socrates stage see a special river-themed Bangla dance and music performance from the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA), as well as a water ceremony and blessing with community members from Golden Drum, followed by a special sound journey from Dream Seed.
City Parks Foundation’s Coastal Classroom crew will also be stationed at Hallets Cove for waterfront ecology and exploration, and the Manhattan Kayak Circumnavigation will be bringing hundreds of colorful kayakers ashore at Socrates as a stop on their East River journey!
