Façade

Christine Howard Sandoval

This architectural façade is scaled to the footprints of small New York City residential buildings. It has been collaged — just as many barriers on building sites around the city; in this case the images are not advertising, but rather pictures of collapsed buildings. Inside is a single image of a pristine, indigenous forest. The viewer is able to catch simultaneous glimpses of urban decay and natural landscape, juxtaposed with the actual vistas of Socrates and the city skyline beyond.
